New Composting Machine For Lake Placid Middle-High School

Lake Placid Middle-High School is getting a new composting machine this summer. It’s a $35,000 investment that’s being paid for with funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, North Country School and the New York State Association for Reduction, Reuse and Recycling. It’s being assembled behind the school near the Shipman Youth Center. According to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, it’s a nearly 40-foot-long tube reinforced with rebar steel. It sits on a motorized platform designed to spin the materia and can accommodate between 100 to 150 pounds of waste per day.
