On January 11, 2021, at approximately 11:15 a.m., State Police responded to report of an altercation in the town of Tupper Lake. An investigation revealed that 21-year-old Chase J. Vaillancourt-Nadeau of Tupper Lake menaced the victim with a knife inside the victim’s car while they were driving, prohibiting the victim from exiting the car. The victim was able to get out when the suspect stopped and then Vaillancourt-Nadeau took off with the victim’s car. He was soon located by law enforcement and taken into custody. Vaillancourt-Nadeau was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (D felony), Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd degree (A misdemeanor), Menacing 2nd degree (A misdemeanor0, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (A misdemeanor), and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (A misdemeanor). He was arraigned at the Town of Tupper Lake Court and released to reappear in the Town of Tupper Lake Court at a later date.
