On January 31, 2021, at approximately 9:10 a.m. State Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence on State Route 30, in the town of Tupper Lake. An investigation revealed that 41-year-old James L. Lasher of Tupper Lake, engaged in a domestic dispute with the victim. When she attempted to contact 911, Lasher took the phone from her, and prevented her from using it. He also prevented her from leaving the residence, and made threats to harm the victim. This all occurred in violation of a ‘refrain from’ order of protection issued by the Town of Tupper Lake Court which expires in 2025. Lasher was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief 4th degree, Aggravated Family Offense, Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd degree, Harassment 2nd degree, and Criminal Contempt 2nd degree. He was arraigned in the Town of Tupper Lake Court and remanded to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail, or $10,000 bond.
