On May 19, 2021 at approximately 4:30 pm, State Police Malone responded to a two car crash on State Route 11 in the town of Burke. A preliminary investigation determined James Lacey, 33, was traveling west on State Route 11 when he attempted to pass an uninvolved vehicle. Lacey failed to observe a vehicle traveling eastbound, operated by Jeremy Booth, 39, Clintonville, striking Booth head-on. Booth died at the scene, his passenger, Trenton Booth, 16, was transported to University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington with non-life threatening injuries.
