This summer, Lake Placid, Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake farmers markets accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. According to the Sun Community News, this, in addition to Double Up Food Bucks, a program that matches SNAP dollars up to $20 and Power of Produce Club, a program that teaches children about agriculture, science and nutrition, was implemented to get as many local people to farmers markets and eating local produce as possible.
