An upcoming project to improve reliability and resiliency for residents of the Village of Lake Placid and to support events, such as the Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games in January 2023, will require a 10-hour planned outage beginning at 8 p.m., Sept. 20. Construction has been underway since July to replace infrastructure on the 45-mile radial transmission line serving the village, including the installation of new wooden and steel poles along easements and right of ways. The project will cost approximately $8 million and will increase reliability and create a more resilient line to the village. The planned outage is necessary as part of the project.
