A young loon got iced in on First Lake last week and was rescued by staff and volunteers from the Saranac Lake-based Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation. According to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, experts say a sudden shift from warmer to cold weather made for the perfect set of conditions to trap juvenile loons. They were able to respond and get the loon out of the predicament it was in.
