The Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service is currently holding its annual Ice Out Benefit. The range for Mirror Lake is March 23 in 2012 to May 13 in 1971. Last year, the ice went out on Mirror Lake on April 14 and on Lake Placid lake on April 20. Tickets are available at the Lake Placid Visitors Center, North Elba Town Hall and from members. Each ticket gives one a chance to estimate the time and date the ice will break out of Mirror Lake and Lake Placid lake. There will be five winners per lake.
