On July 15, 2023, State Police members responded to a UTV accident near Pitchfork Pond Road in the town of Tupper Lake.
The preliminary investigation determined, operator, Rachel L. Laflair, age 38, and passenger Nikki Mondat, age 47, both of Tupper Lake, NY were traveling north on an unmarked RTV road in blue 2022 Polaris RZR. Laflair lost control, failed to navigate striking an earth embankment causing it to roll on its side ejecting both Laflair and Mondat. Mondat was transported to Saranac AMC for injuries of chest and hip pain. Laflair was transported to UVM Burlington for the severity of injuries and is in critical condition.
