There are two weeks left for short-term vacation rental operators to register their units and get them “grandfathered” in before Saranac Lake’s new regulations take effect. Otherwise, these units will be deemed illegal and subject to $500-per-day fines if they continue to operate past the Oct. 12 application deadline. The Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports after the deadline, there is a moratorium on the issuance of any new short-term vacation rental permits in the village until December 2024.
