New York State Police Troop B has issued a warning to the public about a recent increase in scams. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation reports seeing an increase of high-volume scams specifically regarding gift cards throughout Essex, Hamilton, Clinton and St. Lawrence counties. In the most recent incidents, the scammers pose as Spectrum employees and ask customers to pay their bill with gift cards, which authorities say is bogus.
