Lake Placid firefighters battled a structure fire on Main Street Tuesday morning that started in the fireplace of a rented room.
The Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department responded to the structure fire at 2565 Main St. at 1:03 a.m. The fire started in the fireplace of a rented room on the building’s upper floor. The renters started a fire in the fireplace around 9 p.m., according to the LPVFD. The people renting the room woke up at around 12:30 a.m. to a room full of heavy smoke and called for help.
