Saranac Lake Weighing Public Safety Building Options

New federal funding will help provide first responders in Saranac Lake with a new public safety building. WCAX reports roughly $4.5 million is heading to the community to help build a new facility that will house police, fire, and ambulance services.
Village Mayor Jimmy Williams says they are currently looking at two options–the existing volunteer fire department or a former school, which the village recently purchased for $350,000. He says studies show an overhaul of the existing station could cost upwards of $43 million, while the former school could be around $28 million.
