The NYS Chapter of the Forest Fire Lookout Association has announced the upcoming 11th Annual Lighting of the Fire Towers event on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 9 p.m. The group hopes to have a light start to glow in the cab of many towers across New York State. Sun Community News reports 37 towers were lit up last year, and the group hopes to see more this for this year’s commemoration. In the event of rain, the lighting will be held the next night, Sunday, Sept. 1, at 9 p.m.
