48 year old Adam Smith of Lake Placid will be tried for two alleged murders in St. Lawrence County Court on Oct. 15. The Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports Smith’s arrest was announced March 7, 2023 by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. He was previously apprehended on March 2 in a stolen vehicle police said belonged to 67-year-old William Freeman, who was found dead that same day in his home in Rossie. Smith is also accused of murdering 72-year-old Ronald Durham a month earlier on Feb. 11, 2023. Durham was found dead in a cemetery in Gouverneur.
