Jones’ New York Land-Home Property Act Passes Assembly

The New York Land-Home Property Act, sponsored by Assemblyman Billy Jones (D-Chateaugay Lake), passed the Assembly. Under current law, manufactured homes are not treated as a regular house that can be easily mortgaged and sold, nor does current law provide a procedure for a surrender of the certificate of title. This bill will address these issues by creating a process to surrender a certificate of title to convert a manufactured home into real property, giving New Yorkers the option to finance land and manufactured homes with a mortgage.
