Ironman Competitor Charged For Leaving Child Unattended

An Ironman Lake Placid competitor was arrested mid-race after the Lake Placid Police Department received a complaint that a 9-year-old boy had allegedly been left unattended. The Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports
Village police charged Harley F. Tong, 44, of Kenmore, with one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, at 5:26 p.m. Sunday. Subsequent investigation determined that his child had allegedly been left unattended for about 10 hours since the race had started.
