A hiker died at Marcy Dam on Saturday, according to State Police, who investigated and found that no foul play was suspected. According to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, 69 year old Alan C. Thomas of Wappingers Falls, was descending the Van Hoevenberg trail — a popular route that runs from Heart Lake to Mount Marcy — when he collapsed and became unresponsive at Marcy Dam, about 2 miles from the trailhead parking lots.
