Adirondack Groups Warn Of Damage Caused By Wakeboats

Adirondack groups are teaming up to warn about damage caused by wakeboats and urge towns to limit their use on sensitive lakes. The coalition has spent months examining wakeboat research in other regions and developing a model town ordinance that would restrict where wakeboats could be used. A virtual information session on the topic is set for 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 14. The boats are designed to make big waves for water sports, but they also are linked to damage by eroding the shore, clouding the water, and destroying natural habitats.
