Snowmobile Club Protests Paving Of Parts Of Rail Trail

In a letter to the DEC, the Lake Placid Snowmobile Club and its attorney, Matthew Norfolk, denounced the decision to pave sections of the Adirondack Rail Trail instead of continuing with what they said was the expected plan of using crushed stone. Adirondack Explorer reports pavement along 2.6 miles of the rail trail in Saranac Lake can cause snow to melt more quickly than on other surfaces, the letter states, potentially damaging snowmobiles riding on the corridor.
