A North Elba town justice has resigned from his seat after a state judicial watchdog lodged a formal ethics complaint against him. The Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports the complaint accuses the former judge of retaliating against a Lake Placid attorney who had filed an ethics complaint against him five years prior. Former town justice Alec Friedmann has now agreed to never hold judicial office again, the state Commission on Judicial Conduct announced last week.
