‘Miracle On Ice’ Members Could Receive Medal Of Honor

The “Miracle On Ice” is widely considered the greatest sports moment in U.S. history. Now, the 20 men from the team are one step closer to receiving the nation’s highest civilian honor. In Washington, D.C., this week, the U.S. Senate passed a bill that would award the American sporting heroes a different kind of gold medal, the Congressional Gold Medal. If the bill becomes law, three medals would be minted.
One would go to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in Minnesota; another would be given to the Olympic and Paralympic Museum in Colorado; and the final one would go on display inside the Olympic Center in Lake Placid.
