On Monday, Gov. Kathy Hochul called for a special election to fill the 115th Assembly District vacancy created when Billy Jones resigned in July. The election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 4 to coincide with the general election. Sun Community News reports Hochul issued the proclamation Sept. 15 pursuant to the Public Officers Law, which requires the election be called within 10 days of the outgoing lawmaker’s formal departure date. Jones’ last day in the Assembly was Sept. 5.
