U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand have succeeded in garnering $27,348,437 in federal funding for 13 airports across New York State, four of them in the North Country. Sun Community News reports the recipients are : Lake Placid Airport: $488,106 to install weather-reporting equipment
Malone-Dufort Airport: $64,521 to install perimeter fencing not required by 49 CFR 1542
Plattsburgh International Airport: $355,500 to rehabilitate its taxi lane, $6,166,858 to rehabilitate its apron
Adirondack Regional Airport: $804,758 to acquire snow-removal equipment.
