The Lake Placid Central School District Board of Education heard a presentation about proposed tax exemptions this week. Officials say there are 165 veterans who could file for an exemption in North Elba and the village of Lake Placid. Calculations based on the maximum limits of the different classes of veteran’s exemptions — wartime, combat zone and disability — estimate that these 165 veterans would be exempt from a total of almost $52,000 in taxes.
